Adding Your First Folder

MakerVault organizes your files by watching folders you specify. Point it at any folder on your computer and it automatically scans all supported design files, including nested subfolders.

  1. Click the Add Folder button in the left sidebar, or use the welcome screen prompt when the app is empty.
  2. Select a folder from the native file picker.
  3. MakerVault immediately begins scanning the folder and all its subfolders.

You’ll see a progress indicator in the status bar while scanning. A typical folder with 5,000 files scans in under a second.

MakerVault recognizes 25+ file types across these categories:

CategoryFile Types
VectorSVG, DXF, AI, EPS, CDR
Laser/CNCLightBurn (.lbrn/.lbrn2), xTool (.xcs), RDWorks (.rd), VCarve Pro (.crv), Aspire (.crv3d)
G-code.gcode, .nc, .tap
3DSTL, 3MF, OBJ
RasterPNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF, TIFF
DocumentPDF
FontTTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2

Files with unsupported extensions are silently skipped. Hidden files and directories (like .DS_Store and ._ resource forks) are automatically ignored.

You can add as many folders as you like. Each folder appears in the left sidebar with a file count. Click a folder name to filter the file list to only that folder’s contents.

Right-click a watched folder in the sidebar and select Remove. This removes the folder from MakerVault’s index but does not delete any files from your disk.
