Spacebar Quick Preview

MakerVault’s quick preview works like macOS Quick Look. Select a file and press Space to open a full-screen preview overlay.

  1. Click a file to select it.
  2. Press Space to open the preview.
  3. Press Space or Escape to close it.

The preview overlay shows:

  • File preview — The file rendered natively (for supported types) or a placeholder icon
  • Metadata sidebar — Filename, size, type, tags, notes, and embedded metadata
  • Open button — “Open in [App]” to launch the file in its default application

LightBurn files show a segmented toggle in the top-right of the preview overlay:

  • Canvas — An interactive SVG canvas rendering the actual cut layers, shapes, and text from the file. Supports pan and zoom.
  • PNG — The embedded thumbnail image baked into the file by LightBurn.
  • Photo — Shown only when you have uploaded a custom photo for the file.

Opening full-screen preview preserves whichever mode was active in the right sidebar.

Any file can have a custom photo (JPEG or PNG) that you upload. Once uploaded, a Photo tab appears in the preview toggle. The photo also appears as the primary thumbnail in grid view.

Previewable files also show a smaller inline preview directly in the file detail panel on the right sidebar, so you can see a preview without going full-screen. Double-click the inline preview to open the full-screen overlay.

See Supported Previews for the full list of what renders natively vs. what shows a placeholder.
