ZIP Archive Browser
ZIP files appear in your MakerVault library like any other file. You can search for them, tag them, and open them — and MakerVault includes a built-in browser so you can see exactly what’s inside without extracting anything.
Opening a ZIP
Section titled “Opening a ZIP”Click a ZIP file to select it. The detail panel on the right shows the archive’s file count and size. Double-click the ZIP (or press Space to preview it) to open the built-in archive browser.
Browsing the contents
Section titled “Browsing the contents”The archive browser shows a collapsible file tree of everything inside the ZIP:
- Folders can be expanded and collapsed to navigate nested structures
- Files are listed with their name and type
- Click any file to preview it inline
Inline preview
Section titled “Inline preview”Clicking a file inside the ZIP previews it in the area above the file list — no extraction needed. Supported inline previews include:
| File type | How it renders |
|---|---|
| Images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF) | Native image rendering |
| SVG | Full vector rendering |
| Text files | Plain text display |
| Fonts (TTF, OTF) | Font sample with alphabet and pangram |
Files that cannot be previewed inline show a placeholder icon.
Finding ZIP files
Section titled “Finding ZIP files”The Archives item in the left sidebar filters your library to show only ZIP files. You can also use the filter popup and select the Archive file type category.
Notes and tagging
Section titled “Notes and tagging”ZIP files support all the same actions as other files — you can add notes, apply tags, assign a source, mark them as favorites, and link them to related files.
